About Me

My name is Anna Wenner (She/Her), and I am a neurodivergent, queer writer living in Kansas City.

I grew up in Kansas where, contrary to popular belief, I’ve never seen a tornado, never met Dorothy, and can't zap anywhere just by clicking my heels (though I do admit, there's no place like home).

I’m a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers. Though I started my career working in a cemetery (yes, seriously), I later landed in greeting cards and product development as an Editorial Director. These days I’ve returned to my roots as a journalist and can be most often found writing for publications like USA Today, Reviewed, and Wirecutter.

I hold a dual degree in Creative Writing and History as well as a minor in Global and International Studies. I am also the published author of one children’s picture book, Today and Always, I Love You.

Meet the Team

Every great creative has a team behind them, and I’m no different. Read below to learn a little more about my exceptional coworkers.

  • Senior Director of Scheduling

Tonks has been with the company since college, and she puts that experience to good use. She knows the work from home schedule like the back of her paw, and she keeps the team going on pace. Tonks also makes sure we take plenty of outside breaks so she can sit in a sunbeam on the screened in porch. She maintains good work-life balance for the team by making sure that work ends precisely on time each day because that is when she gets fed. It is entirely irrelevant if she already had food in her bowl—she is clearly still starving and has been abandoned unless new food is added. This applies to our work as well—whether I think her frequent naps on my arms are helpful doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, Tonks knows best.

  • Director of Employee Relations

Teddy is our newer employee, with four years under his belt. He grew up during a pandemic, so he’s familiar with the occasional (aka frequent) mental health challenges that his mom and her visitors face. Teddy is an expert at intuitively knowing when someone needs a giant cloud hug. He also valiantly presents himself for petting to all visitors just in case they would also like to be cheered up. If they get distracted from their cheering up, he gently reminds them by nudging their hand with his nose gently until they start petting him again on instinct. If Teddy is getting petted, hugged, or snuggled, he considers it a job well done.

In Memory of

Rebecca Wenner

(1968-2020)

My mother was my favorite travel companion, my biggest advocate, and my very best friend. Her spirit exists in every story I tell and every picture I take. I am who I am because of her.
