What is Domis?

Domis is basically your home at your fingertips. It helps you keep track of what needs to be done and makes understanding maintenance a lot more manageable. If you’ve ever wished that your home came with its own tutorial or instruction manual, Domis is the perfect place to start.

Building Domis

When you get the keys to your first place, it can feel a little like someone tossing you into the deep end of a pool and telling you to swim. Sure, some people will already know what to do and be fine, but if you’ve never been taught, it’s easy to (quite literally) get in over your head.

We built Domis to help everyone start from the same place. Whether you’re renting or own your home, we wanted you to have all of the important stuff handy exactly when you need it.

  • Every interaction and instruction within the app was designed to be easy for anyone to follow.

    We wanted it to feel approachable for brand new homeowners to those who’ve lived in their place for decades. That meant making sure we used exactly the right words in the right places without overwhelming anyone.

  • Home care and maintenance isn’t an area that most people want to spend a lot of time. Their ideal is to do exactly what they have to in order to keep things running smoothly, and to otherwise forget about all the stressors involved.

    We found that a lot of competitors used loud colors, guilt-inducing stats, and far-too-complex charts.

    In contrast, we focused on creating an inviting app that would help users take control of their home and feel calm, cool, and collected in the process. We ensured that everything from the color palette to the minimalist design style helped our users stress less.

  • Anyone who’s ever been new to home maintenance knows that there can be a lot of assumptions about what you already know. It can feel discouraging from the outset if you’re trying to learn a new skill and can’t even get past Step 1 because you don’t know what a tool is or where to find one.

    To counter this, we aim to create tasks, blog posts, and instructions that are clear for any user of any experience level. We don’t assume anything, and we never judge. Our goal is always to help the user feel empowered to try something new and to inspire them to want to take care of their home now so they can avoid costly expenses down the line.
